Biography
Ralph began his career with the USPS on February 5, 1968 at the age of eighteen. He was
assigned to the Orange, NJ Post Office as a PTF letter carrier. After working for a little over one year, he was drafted into
the Army and spent two years on active duty. Ralph was discharged from active service in June of 1971 and
returned to the Orange Post Office to continue his career as a letter carrier.
Ralph has been a member of the NALC right from the end of
his probationary period in 1968, and not long after returning from the military, he became involved in the Union as a shop
steward for Branch 624. During the next eighteen years, Ralph continued to be actively involved with the Union in the Orange
Post Office, where he held the positions of Shop Steward, Chief Shop Steward, and Vice President for Branch 624.
In 1990,
Branch 624 merged with Branch 38, and Ralph was appointed to the position of Part-Time Area Representative. He remained in
that position, taking on additional duties and offices to cover. He became a full-time officer in 2002.
Today, Ralph continues as a full-time officer in Branch 38, and continues to enjoy being able to represent more than 625 Letter
Carriers in the 27 Post Offices to which he is assigned. Ralph currently holds the position of Director
of City Delivery.
Ralph
has been married to his wife Joan since 1972, and they have been blessed with three children, Kathy, Jimmy, and Michele.
