Biography

Jim started his career in the Postal Service as a PTF carrier in East Brunswick, NJ in 1967.  In 1968, he was drafted into the Army and spent 13 ½ months in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division.  He was discharged in 1969 with the rank of sergeant.

Jim returned to the Post Office and became a full-time regular in 1969.  From his first day in the Post Office he has been both a member of the NALC and the NALC Health Benefit Plan.  In 1975, Jim was appointed to the position of Shop Steward in East Brunswick. The East Brunswick local later merged with Branch 2951, and in 1980 Branch 2951 merged with Branch 38. While still with Branch 2591, Jim, Charlie Connell, and some of the other active members of the branch held the first Branch 2951 MDA golf tournament at Bunker Hill, a tradition which continues today under the sponsorship of Branch 38.

In 1980, Jim was asked to fill the position of Part-Time Area Representative of Branch 38. In 1985, he was appointed to the new position of Full-Time Area Representative. Since then Jim has held the positions of Director of City Delivery, Second Vice President, and First Vice President.  In 2008, Jim was appointed by President Pete Maglio to his present position of Executive Vice President.

Jim is married and resides in East Windsor, NJ with his wife Sue and their three cats.
